WELCOME TO THE PA CHAPTER OF THE COUNCIL FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN
MISSION

The Council for Exceptional Children is an international community of professionals who are the voice and vision of gifted and special education.
CEC's mission is to improve, through excellence and advocacy, the education and quality of life for children and youth with exceptionalities and to enhance the engagement of their families.
WHAT WE DO
CEC focuses on several areas in special education including advocacy, professional development, standards, resources and publications.
In advocating on behalf of children with exceptionalities, CEC examines policy issues, develops appropriate responses to those issues and influences local, state, provincial and federal legislation.
You’ll find professional development offerings to meet the needs of all special educators – including those of you who are time-crunched, cost-conscious or in need of CEUs in order to meet state obligations.
CEC develops standards, ethics and practices and guidelines to ensure that individuals with exceptionalities have access to well-prepared, career-oriented special educators.
CEC publishes and distributes products designed to help practitioners work more effectively in the classroom.
